This two-day class allows participants to focus on strengthening the mind’s eye, by introducing new ways to observe our natural surroundings. Through sit spot reflection, sensory meditation, and various observational drawing and sculpting exercises, students are encouraged to slow down their senses, to let go of their preconceptions and view the world with “new” eyes.Art exercises include micro and macro nature perspective studies, as well as the exploration of organic three dimensional form using a variety of simple media (pencil, charcoal, conte and clay). Learn to first experience and then portray what you actually see and observe, rather than what your brain already “knows.” It is not necessary to have any background or training in visual arts to take this course; simply the passion to learn.
