Paddle Making

Listening to the language of wood, students are guided through the process of making their own canoe paddle using hand tools, from starting with a slab of wood to the finishing treatment. The nature of grain, growth rings, and differing hardnesses of various woods are discussed, as we delve into deepening our connection to and understanding of the raw materials, one of our most diverse and useful natural resource– namely, trees.  How good will it feel next time you’re out on the water, to be cutting the waves with your very own hand made paddle?

No experience necessary… simply the passion to learn!
